Toni Kroos Excludes Himself From Ballon d’Or 2024 Consideration

Former Real Madrid star, Toni Kroos, has stated that he will not be in the running for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

Kroos acknowledges that he could have been a strong contender if Germany had emerged victorious in Euro 2024.

The 34-year-old bid farewell to his football career this summer, following his contributions to Real Madrid’s LaLiga and Champions League triumphs.

He was also part of the European Championships where his team was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Spain.

Reflecting on his chances, Kroos mentioned, “Ballon d’Or? Perhaps if we had clinched the Euro title, there would have been a possibility.

“However, this accolade was not my primary pursuit. It’s unrelated to me not having won it before.

“During my career, I was surrounded by renowned players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Modrić, and Benzema who have claimed the award.”
