Tinubu’s Aide, Nweze Vows to Ensure Total Inclusion of South-East in Conditional Cash Transfer

Mrs. Chioma Nweze, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, South East, has pledged to ensure the complete inclusion of the South-East region in the current verification process of the National Social Register. This register is used for the disbursement of conditional cash transfers to 25 million poor families nationwide.

In a statement released after a meeting with the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, Nweze emphasized that the ongoing verification of the National Social Register will encompass impoverished households in the South-East zone.

Nweze expressed her commitment to work closely with the Minister to effectively implement President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The statement highlights that the primary objective of the ongoing verification, which was initiated by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs last week, is to eliminate “ghost beneficiaries.” It aims to ensure that genuine poor, needy, and vulnerable Nigerian families are the rightful recipients of the conditional cash transfer.

However, Nweze also called upon State governments, LGAs, traditional rulers, community heads, women, and youth leaders in the South-East zone to take ownership of the ongoing verification process. Their involvement will help ensure that only deserving families in need are duly verified.
