Tinubu urged by Methodist Archbishop to address the plight of suffering homes

President Bola Tinubu has been implored by the Metropolitan and Archbishop of Abuja Methodist Church, His Grace, Most Revd Michael Akinwale, to tackle the economic hardships affecting Nigerians. According to the Archbishop, homes in the country are currently “bleeding” due to the ongoing challenges.

Speaking during the 2024 Men’s Work Week/Father’s Day Thanksgiving Service at the Methodist Cathedral of Unity in Wuse, Abuja, the cleric emphasized the urgent need for decisive actions to alleviate the suffering faced by numerous Nigerians.

“At present, a lot of homes are experiencing immense difficulties. It is crucial for the government to intervene and lessen the impact of the struggling economy,” urged Most Revd Michael Akinwale.

The Archbishop highlighted the exorbitant cost of living, which has resulted in essential items becoming unaffordable for the average person.

“This is part of our Divine responsibilities as men. However, we acknowledge that the current economic situation poses a significant challenge to us.

“It is important to recognize that God is our ultimate provider. As long as we are determined as fathers to fulfill our obligations, God will always pave a way for us.

“I urge our president to acknowledge that many households are struggling immensely at this time.

“The ordinary citizens are voicing their grievances. The government must eliminate any channels through which our resources are being drained at the expense of the masses,” he emphasized.

Discussing the theme “Arise and Build,” the Clergy emphasized the pivotal role of fathers in both their families and the nation.”

“President Tinubu’s government must make every effort to mitigate the impact of this distressed economy. Maintaining families has become exceedingly challenging due to the skyrocketing prices of almost everything.

“It has now gone beyond the means of the average person. As the father figure of the nation, we utilize this Father’s Day to urge the President earnestly to address these challenges.

“While we appreciate the administration’s efforts to stabilize the economy, the repercussions are undeniably harsh on the ordinary citizens,” he conveyed.

Quoting from the Holy Book of Colossians 3:19, the Cleric encouraged men to exhibit love and provide for their families despite the economic hardships.

“God is our provider. As long as we are resolute as fathers in meeting our responsibilities, God will always pave a path for us,” he concluded.
