Three Toddlers Rescued by Police after Being Locked in a Lagos Home

In Lagos, three toddlers were rescued by the Lagos State Police Command after they were allegedly found locked in a room in Agodo-Egbe, Ikotun.

Reports from PUNCH Online suggest that the children, comprising a girl and two boys aged between two and four years, had been locked inside by Fatimo Ganiyu, reported to be their grandmother.

Concerned members of the community who noticed their absence quickly alerted the police on a Wednesday.

Acting on the information, a team of officers visited the location and forcibly opened the door, leading to the discovery of the children inside.

Upon rescue, it was observed that the children appeared malnourished, prompting the immediate arrest of the suspect at the scene.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, verified the incident.

He stated, “Around 4 pm on Wednesday, the Ikotun Police Division received information regarding three children—a girl and two boys aged two to four—that were reportedly locked up by their grandmother, Fatimo Ganiyu, in Agodo Egbe, Ikotun.

“The Divisional Police Officer swiftly led a team of detectives to the area, rescued the children, and brought them to the station.
“They appeared to be malnourished and in poor health. The suspect was apprehended, and the children were transferred for appropriate medical attention. Investigations are ongoing.”
