Three Nigerian children killed in New Year Day crash in Canada

On January 1, three Nigerian children residing in Chelmsford, Canada, lost their lives in a tragic accident on Highway 17 near the Highway 144 interchange. The incident involved a single motor vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of Highway 17. A preliminary investigation revealed that the car veered off the roadway and collided with a rock cut. The passengers included Destiny Osagie, 11, and Flourish Osagie, 10, who were pronounced dead at the scene, and Britney Osagie, 6, who was transported to the hospital but unfortunately did not survive. The driver, a 45-year-old female, escaped without injuries, while a 45-year-old female passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries and a 10-year-old male passenger was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries. All occupants of the vehicle were from Chelmsford. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is conducting an ongoing investigation with the support of a Collision Reconstructionist and a Technical Collision Investigator. Const. Michelle Coulombe confirmed that the crash involved a single vehicle carrying six people. The OPP stated that their initial findings indicated the vehicle had veered off the roadway and struck a rock cut, resulting in the tragic loss of the three young passengers.
