At least two people, including a girl, died and three others were injured this Monday in a shooting that occurred during a hockey game at an ice rink in Pawtucket, in the state of Rhode Island (USA), where the attacker also died, according to reports from authorities and local media.
According to the WJAR channel, which quotes the mayor’s office, one of the deceased is a girl and the other has not been identified.
CNN, which cites police sources, indicates that the event appears to stem from a domestic dispute, since the attacker shot at members of his own family.
The event took place this Monday during a hockey game between high school teams that was held on the covered ice rink of the town’s Lynch Arena, the report added.
Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee indicated in X that authorities are investigating the shooting and that he is in contact with the mayor, Donald Grebien, as well as state and local police forces.
The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Weapons is assisting in the investigation and numerous police officers have been sent to the stadium, according to images published on social networks.
