Thigh Injury Rules Chelsea’s Lavia Out for the Rest of the Season

Chelsea’s Romeo Lavia, who has been plagued by injuries, will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a thigh injury, the club confirmed on Wednesday. The 20-year-old Belgian sustained the injury during his debut for Chelsea as a substitute against Crystal Palace in December.

In a statement, Chelsea announced, “Midfielder Romeo Lavia will unfortunately miss the rest of the 2023-24 campaign due to a setback in his recovery.”

Lavia, who was acquired from Southampton for an initial fee of £53 million (62 million euros) at the start of the season, has faced challenges at Stamford Bridge, having already missed the first half of the season due to an ankle problem.

This weekend, Chelsea will face Burnley at Stamford Bridge as part of Match Week 29 in the Premier League. Currently, Chelsea occupies the 11th spot in the league standings.
