Thierry Henry Furious Despite France’s Victory Over Argentina at Paris 2024 Olympics

After their 1-0 win against Argentina in the Olympics football match, France U-23 coach Thierry Henry expressed his discontent.

A heated confrontation ensued between the two teams following the intense game.

The winning goal was delivered by Jean-Philippe Mateta with a powerful header in the sixth minute.

Henry’s squad has advanced to the semi-finals and is set to take on Egypt in the next round.

Prior to the match, tension escalated as members of the Argentina team, who recently won the Copa America, were caught on camera singing derogatory and offensive chants directed towards the French team.

Enzo Fernandez, a midfielder from Chelsea, streamed the video on Instagram with his teammate and French defender Wesley Fofana condemning the behavior as blatant racism.

The French supporters expressed their disapproval by booing and taunting the Argentine squad at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux throughout the game.

The post-match chaos culminated in an altercation, leading to Enzo Millot receiving a red card.

In his post-match statement, Henry expressed his dissatisfaction, stating: “I strongly disagree with the incident that occurred at the end of the match. The red card shown to my player [Millot] was unacceptable and should not have transpired.”

“I had no control over the situation. I was greeting the opposing coach, and when I turned back, the unfortunate event had unfolded,” Henry added.

Despite the victory, Henry voiced his disapproval of the altercation involving his player at the end of the match.
