Thiago Silva Rumored to Depart Chelsea for Manchester United, Speculates Lawrenson

Mark Lawrenson, a former Liverpool player, has suggested that Thiago Silva, the Chelsea defender, could make a surprising move to Manchester United on a free transfer in the upcoming summer.

Last week, Silva confirmed his departure from Stamford Bridge after a four-year tenure.

Despite approaching 40 years old in September, the talented Brazilian has demonstrated his ability to perform at a high level.

“I envision Thiago Silva joining another Premier League club during the summer. The key factor will be the requirement for him to play in a back three system. Several teams utilize this formation, and he has proven his capability within it,” Lawrenson remarked.

“Many Premier League clubs may express interest in him, perhaps for a one-year contract with an option for extension if he maintains his standard.”

“I could foresee a potential move to Old Trafford for him. It would undoubtedly be a beneficial signing as long as his fitness is maintained. He possesses top-notch skills and appears physically fit. Additionally, his ability to adeptly play the ball from the back is a quality lacking in Manchester United’s current central defenders,” Lawrenson stated to Paddy Power.
