The youngest victim to succumb to COVID-19 in England is a 6-week-old baby

A baby just six weeks old has lost the battle to COVID-19 in England after testing positive for the virus.

 

NHS England disclosed that the infant was one of the 332 individuals who died after contracting the virus, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities in England’s hospitals to 22,764.

 

The eldest patient was 103 years old, and among the 332 individuals, 22 were aged between 40 and 96, with no identifiable underlying health issues.

 

Of the 332 deaths announced today, NHS England reported 58 on 7 May, 124 on 6 May, and 41 on 5 May.

 

According to the Office for National Statistics, the overall death toll from COVID-19 has now reached 33,615, with over 200,000 cases.
