The Super Eagles get a lift with Troost-Ekong back in full training for 2026 WCQ

In preparation for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin, the Super Eagles have been handed a significant boost with the return of William Troost-Ekong to training.

Troost-Ekong was sidelined after undergoing surgery for an injury he sustained during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite his absence, the defender, who impressed with three goals in Cote d’Ivoire, was honored as the Player of the Tournament.

Initially expected to sit out the rest of the 2022/23 season, the centre-back has made a swift recovery from his injury.

Now at 30 years old, he is ready to feature in PAOK Salonica’s final three league matches of the season.

His comeback serves as a significant morale booster for the Super Eagles, who are still seeking their first win in the qualifiers.
