The sum of N39m is given to families of 25 deceased police officers and others by IGP


A total of N39,042,593.07 has been distributed to 25 families of deceased police officers and individuals who were victims of accidents while on duty in Kogi State.

In a statement released on Wednesday, SP William Ovye Aya, the Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Police Command, revealed that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bethrand Onuoha, presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, at the command headquarters in Lokoja.

During the cheque presentation, the state’s Commissioner of Police emphasized that this initiative is in line with the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident Insurance Schemes established to enhance the well-being of the families of deceased police officers and to provide assistance to police officers who have had accidents while discharging their duties.

As stated by the police spokesperson, this act of support will serve as a motivating factor for active-duty officers to remain dedicated. He remarked, “The Nigeria Police Force values the sacrifices made by the deceased officers and accident victims in safeguarding the nation.”
