The recent reshuffling of Abia state commissioners by Governor Alex Otti

In a recent move, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has made changes to his cabinet by assigning new portfolios to the newly appointed commissioners sworn in just a day before.

During the swearing-in ceremony, the governor mentioned his intention to make slight changes to his cabinet and introduce a couple of new ministries.

Consequently, new ministries were formed while some were split from existing ones.

The revised State Executive Council now sees Mike Akpara, the former Commissioner of Finance, taking on the role of Industry and SMEs Ministry, with Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu transitioning from Trade and Commerce to Transport.

Other notable appointments include Ikechukwu Uwanna as the Attorney General and Commissioner For Justice, Uzo Nwachukwu as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uwaoma Ukandu as Commissioner for Finance, Kingsley Anosike as Commissioner for Budget and Planning, and Okey Kanu as Commissioner for Information.

The new cabinet lineup also features Goodluck Ubochi as Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Uche Uche as Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. Enoch Uche as Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mrs. Maureen Aghukwa as Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Blessing Felix as Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Philemon A. Ogbonna as Commissioner for Environment, Prof. Joel F. Ogbonna as Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Kingsley Nwokocha as Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Nwaobilor Ananaba as Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mathew Ekwuruibe as Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, and David Kalu as Commissioner for Science, Technology & Innovation.

Rounding out the appointments are Chaka Chukwumerije as Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Engr. Don Otumchere Oti as Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ikechukwu Monday as Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, and Comrade Sunny A. Onwuma as Commissioner for Labour and Productivity.
