The passing of Owa of Idanre Kingdom, the oldest first-class monarch in Ondo State at 102

On Wednesday, Oba Frederick Aroloye, Arubiefin IV, the oldest monarch in Ondo State at 102, joined his ancestors. He had ascended the throne in 1976 and passed away after a brief illness in the ancient kingdom.

High Chief Christopher Akindolire, the Lisa of Idanre and traditional Prime Minister of the hilly kingdom, disclosed the death of the monarch.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa extended his condolences to the people of Idanre for the loss of the revered monarch. He described Oba Aroloye as one of the most respected monarchs in Nigeria during his reign and emphasized his commitment to peace.

Gbenga Edema, the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), highlighted the lasting impact the late monarch had on the development and cultural heritage of Idanre. He praised Oba Aroloye as a driver of positive change in the hilly community, noting significant progress and transformative initiatives during his reign.

“His tenure was characterized by progress, innovation, and a profound love for Idanre’s traditions,” Edema remarked. “Oba Aroloye’s efforts to preserve the culture and heritage of Idanre have left an enduring legacy in the community, and his dedication to the well-being of his subjects has earned him widespread admiration.”
