The death of gospel singer Aduke Ajayi, popularly known as Aduke Gold, on Monday, August 12, 2024, has stirred ongoing controversies.
Following her demise, various reasons have been proposed for her passing. Some assert that complications from a fibroid surgery led to her death, while others suggest a spiritual explanation.
Contrary to the speculations, the singer’s family has clarified that she lost her battle with cervical cancer.
Aduke Gold passed away during her treatment at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, leaving her fans and fellow artists in disbelief.
In an interview with online platform Gbeborun 9ja, Gold’s elder brother, Aderogbo Ajayi, stated, “Those spreading falsehoods should desist. Our daughter was unwell; she was fighting cervical cancer. She was receiving care at UCH Ibadan when she sadly passed away. All circulating information is inaccurate.”
In a tribute to the late singer, fellow gospel artist Esther Igbekele expressed, “A great one has departed. RIP Aduke Gold.”
Another singer, Tope Alabi, wrote, “Aduke, you know I cherish you, but Jesus cherishes you more. Rest peacefully.”
Actress Wumi Toriola shared broken heart emojis in remembrance of the late singer.
Comedian Woli Agba penned, “Aduke has left us. All is well. May God grant you eternal rest, sis.”
A fan, Mr Talk Comedian, expressed, “What is the value of life? Nothing!
I recall when you mentioned, ‘Egbon, I want to return to school. My career demands education.’ We met again, and you mentioned, ‘I’ve completed my studies. Now I can focus on my music career.’ Just as you were to enjoy the fruits of your labor, death snatched you away.”
