The NSCDC has deployed a total of 35,000 personnel for the Easter period

Overseeing the operation is the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, who has strategically positioned 35,000 personnel across the country to ensure a seamless Easter celebration.

A statement released by the Corps’ spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, highlighted that the deployment of officers and personnel, totaling 35,000, is crucial in guaranteeing tight security before, during, and after the festivities to safeguard lives, property, as well as critical national assets and infrastructure.

He has mandated various units including the Anti-Vandal Unit, Special Intelligence Squad, Transport and Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad, Special Force, Special Weapon and Tactics, Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Crack Squad, and Rapid Response Squad, among others, to maintain round-the-clock surveillance in compliance with the operational directives.

The primary objective of the deployment is to ensure maximum security through both overt and covert operations. Emphasis has been placed on safeguarding key areas such as oil installations, railway tracks, power and telecommunications facilities, schools, and recreational venues through enhanced surveillance.

The statement further stressed the importance of public cooperation in providing timely and valuable information regarding suspicious activities or individuals for swift and effective response by the security personnel.
