The Nigerian Government is Criticized by PDP for its Anti-people Policies

Calling on the Federal Government to urgently reconsider its anti-people policies that are causing immense suffering in the nation, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed its concerns.

During the commencement of citizen-led hunger protests in major cities across Nigeria, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, made this statement in Abuja.

The party mentioned that the widespread protests in Nigeria could have been prevented if the APC-led government had shown genuine commitment to the citizens by abandoning its arrogance and insensitivity, and taking steps to alleviate the hardships caused by poorly executed policies.

Reminding Nigerians that the PDP had offered economic advice to the APC government on multiple occasions, with the most recent being on June 6, 2024, where they urged President Tinubu to heed the cries of the people.

Highlighting the prevailing hunger and suffering in the country, the PDP urged the President to act promptly to avoid worsening reactions from the populace.

Regrettably, these recommendations were allegedly disregarded, leading to the present situation.

Expressing dismay over the approach of the APC towards addressing citizen concerns, the PDP accused the party of purportedly inciting violence through the recruitment of thugs to justify crackdowns and the killing of innocent civilians.

With over 120 million Nigerians now struggling to afford basic necessities due to the APC’s policies, the PDP criticized the administration for its insensitivity and the resulting spike in poverty rates above 40%.

The PDP further demanded that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu personally addresses the nation, announces significant policy revisions, and initiates investigations into the alleged mismanagement of subsidy and relief funds.
