The Next Chief Justice of Nigeria Recommended by NJC

In an unexpected closed-door meeting held in Abuja, the National Judicial Council has recommended Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun to become the next Chief Justice of Nigeria.

The meeting, which was originally scheduled for Friday, was rescheduled to Thursday where the recommendation was made alongside suggestions for 27 others to serve as judges in the state high court.

Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the current Chief Justice of Nigeria, will retire from the bench on August 22 upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.
