The Nasarawa Youth Empowerment Agency (NAYEA) set to benefit from enhanced welfare package as bill passes second reading

At the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA), a bill focused on improving the welfare package for personnel of the Nasarawa Youth Empowerment Agency (NAYEA) and boosting revenue generation has successfully passed its second reading.

The bill, which has the support of Mr. Solomon Akwashiki (SDP, Lafia) and was deliberated during Monday’s plenary session, has been announced for further consideration by Speaker Danladi Jatau.

Jatau emphasized the bill’s potential to empower the youth through various skill acquisition programs once it becomes law.

He commended Akwashiki and his fellow lawmakers for their valuable contributions, highlighting the bill’s significance for the state’s overall development.

“I have entrusted the House standing committee on Youth and Sports with the responsibility of reviewing and reporting back on this bill by August 21, 2024,” Jatau stated.

“The committee is tasked with incorporating the diverse ideas and insights provided by members in their report, and I anticipate a thorough review,” he added.

During his presentation of the bill, Mr. Solomon Akwashiki outlined its objectives which include the provision of adult education and vocational skills for youths and other residents of the state.

Akwashiki emphasized that the bill aims to create job opportunities and elevate revenue for the state government.

In advocating for his colleagues’ support in passing the bill, he stated, “This bill encompasses adult education, vocational skill development for youths, and more.”

“It will pave the way for job creation and augment revenue for the state’s treasury,” he further explained.

The bill garnered unanimous backing from lawmakers such as Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, Suleiman Azara, Daniel Ogazi, Musa Ibrahim Musa Saidu Gude, and Mohammed Garba Isimbabi.

They are in agreement that the proposed legislation will address the challenges faced by the youth in Nasarawa State, while also advocating for an enhancement of welfare packages for NAYEA personnel to ensure efficient service delivery.
