The Minister Encourages Patience with Tinubu’s Reforms

Urging Nigerians to refrain from protesting on the streets during the country’s restructuring, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Tunji Alausa, emphasized the importance of patience and support for the ongoing reforms. Alausa made these remarks while addressing journalists after unveiling the Thompson Abayomi Oshin Physiotherapy Building, a generous donation to the College of Medicine at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, where he stood in for President Bola Tinubu.

Commending the philanthropic act of the 98-year-old donor, Alausa called on all Nigerians to follow the example set by the physiotherapist and his family in backing the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“There is no need for anyone to engage in street protests as President Bola Tinubu is strategically restructuring the country from the grassroots up. In a few years, the reforms being implemented will start yielding positive results, eliminating the need for Nigerians to think about leaving the country,” Alausa expressed.

Highlighting President Tinubu’s commitment to transparency and service, the Minister emphasized the necessity of tough decisions for a brighter future. He cited improvements in areas such as exchange rates, fuel subsidies, and national security, indicating progress towards a sustainable path for the nation.

Emphasizing the ongoing infrastructural developments across the country, Alausa projected a future where citizens will no longer seek opportunities abroad once the foundations of the country’s progress begin to bear fruit.

Regarding the Thompson Abayomi Oshin Physiotherapy Building project, Segun Oshin, Chairman of the Thompson Abayomi Oshin Foundation, explained that the initiative was a tribute to his father, Africa’s first physiotherapist, whose pioneering efforts in the field laid the groundwork for the advancement of physiotherapy in Nigeria. The family’s support for the College of Medicine’s initiative aims to elevate physiotherapy from a department to a faculty, fostering its growth and development.
