The long-awaited return of Abuja carnival

After an absence of eight years, the Abuja International Carnival is set to make a grand comeback in November.

Announcing the revival of the carnival, Minister of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting cultural diversity.

Adding to the anticipation, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Ondo State, has been designated as the Goodwill Ambassador for the carnival.

This prestigious role was bestowed upon him by the Abuja International Carnival Secretariat in recognition of his significant contributions to the economic, professional, and social development of Abuja, Nigeria’s National Capital.

“Dr. Ajulo, as the newly appointed Carnival Goodwill Ambassador, will play a vital role in promoting the Abuja International Carnival both locally and globally. His expertise will also be sought to enhance the carnival’s visibility, participation, and overall impact,” stated the press release.

The CEO/Executive Director of the Abuja International Carnival, Kehinde Adegbite, popularly known as Mallam Yankee, expressed utmost confidence that the upcoming edition will surpass all previous ones,

“Dr. Kayode Ajulo’s leadership and influence are expected to significantly elevate the success of the event, making it one of Nigeria’s most spectacular cultural extravaganzas,” mentioned the secretariat.

The previous carnival took place in 2016, while the upcoming carnival scheduled for November 21st to 23rd, 2024, promises a plethora of activities, featuring street shows, musical concerts, boat regattas, Durbar, children’s fiestas, exhibitions, and Masquerade displays.
