The Lagos State Government to Offer Free Medical Services for Pregnant Women and Others throughout April

During a press briefing on April 4, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State announced that the state government will be providing free medical services for pregnant women and individuals with health emergencies throughout the month of April.

As part of the measures to alleviate the impact of the lockdown imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19, the governor stated that the government will cover the medical bills of patients falling under certain categories at all secondary health facilities, including general hospitals and maternal and child health facilities across the state.

“The Lagos State Government will take full responsibility for the medical bills of all patients in need of emergency care, casualties, laboratory tests, surgeries, and maternity services throughout the month of April. This includes deliveries, whether caesarean or normal, and all admissions within this period,” he explained.

Lagos State has reported 108 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, leading to the implementation of a lockdown from March 30 for an initial period of two weeks.
