The family of Ajimobi insists he is alive despite reports of him slipping into a coma due to complications from COVID-19

The former governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, is confirmed to be alive by his daughter-in-law despite rumors of his demise due to COVID-19 complications. Fatima Ganduje-Ajimobi took to her Twitter handle to denounce the speculations, urging people to wait for confirmation.

In a tweet, Fatima Ganduje-Ajimobi reiterated that her father-in-law is still alive and expressed gratitude for the messages of concern.

“Thank you for all the messages but our father is still alive, alhamdulillah. When it is our time we will all die so wait first,” she wrote.

Contrary to the rumors, Sahara Reporters revealed that Ajimobi is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital in Lagos after testing positive for COVID-19 a few weeks ago. According to the report, he slipped into a coma on June 8 and again on June 18, although a source has confirmed that he is still alive.

News of Ajimobi’s alleged death due to COVID-19 sparked discussions on social media in Nigeria. Investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo quoted a reliable source confirming the death, but later reports from Ajimobi’s media aide Bolaji Tunji and his family disputed the claims.

Bolaji Tunji, in a press statement, reassured that the rumors of Ajimobi’s death are false and urged people to disregard the information circulating on social media.
