The Eagle King’ from Okrika land in Rivers

The upcoming film “Amanyanabo The Eagle King” produced by Queen Bae Studios Production is a depiction of the true life story of an African Warrior King Ibanichuka (Ado VI), the last sovereign King of Okrika who faced challenges from British forces due to his fight for the identity of his people. Set in 1892, the movie portrays the rich culture and organized system of the Okrika people at the time, covering customs, administration, economy, defense, and foreign relations. The movie aims to capture the historical significance of King Ibanichuka’s story, which has been primarily shared through oral and written history.

Executive Producer Ibinabo Fiberesima expressed her inspiration for the film after discovering the story of King Ibanichuka and realizing its lack of widespread awareness. Directed by Fred Amata, the movie features a star-studded cast including Nkem Owoh, Columbus Irosanga, Monalisa Chinda, Walter Anga, Patrick Diabuah, Uju Okoli, Lucien Morgan, Gentle Jack, Soibifaa Dokubo, and Sonny McDon W.

Post-production work has been finalized by House of Illusion Studios, and the premiere date will soon be announced. Reports suggest that major streaming platforms such as Netflix, Prime Video, and Showmax are keen on acquiring the indigenous film from the South South Nigeria region.
