The district head of Zamfara’s Gummi Local Government Area released by bandits for N5 million, as they demand two brand new motorbikes for his son

After being kidnapped last Friday, the District Head of Gayari in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Alhaji Hassan Muhammad Gayari, has been released following the payment of N5 million ransom.

 

Last Friday, the District Head and his son were abducted by suspected bandits in his residence in Gayari town of Gummi Local Government Area of the state.

A source, confirming the news to Daily Trust, mentioned that the release by the gunmen came after days of painstaking negotiations over the ransom amount.

“They initially demanded N40 million, which was later reduced to N16 million, and eventually, N5 million was paid as ransom. However, they are still holding onto his son, demanding delivery of two new brand motorbikes before they release him,” the source said.

 

The State Police Command spokesperson, SP Muhammad Shehu, has also confirmed the development.
