The criticism of Tinubu’s economic policies and the push for skill development by ADC national chair

Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, has raised concerns about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approach towards resolving Nigeria’s economic challenges, emphasizing the need for skill development rather than reliance on palliatives.

He criticized Tinubu for neglecting vital considerations before announcing the removal of fuel subsidies during his presidential speech, attributing Nigeria’s economic woes to this decision.

Speaking in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, during the inauguration of the ADC secretariat and the state party chairman, Nwosu expressed the party’s ambition to assume leadership both in Nigeria and Abia State by 2027.

Nwosu also launched the party’s youth development center, Global Youth Campus, and ICT Center.

The objective of these centers, according to the ADC leader, is to equip the youth in the state and the nation with skills that promote self-sufficiency, reducing dependency on politicians for survival.

He emphasized, “Our aim is to create a platform where party members can acquire skills enabling them to be self-reliant. This shift aims to eliminate the perception of the party as a platform for mere wealth distribution, a practice that fuels corrupt politics.”

Nwosu highlighted the adverse effects of money-based politics on the country, advocating for a new approach that focuses on productive activities.

“We will provide training in agriculture, Information and Communication Technology, and business skills. This will encourage individuals to vote without falling prey to financial inducements in 2027.”

Deacon Iyke Nwoke, the new acting state chairman of the party, lauded the National Chairman for his visionary leadership and commitment to the party.

He appealed for support from Nwosu to enhance the youth development center, announcing plans for a collaborative initiative with Myiken Consult, a consultancy firm specializing in project management, training, and financial aid for underprivileged students.
