Disgraced DJ, Tim Westwood to perform his first gig in months in Lagos despite facing allegations of abusing ten women including a 14-year-oldgirl

Branded BBC DJ Tim Westwood is scheduled to perform a gig in Lagos, Nigeria despite ongoing allegations of misconduct involving ten women, including a 14-year-old girl.

The 65-year-old will be making an appearance at a party for The Beat 99.9 FM, alongside British rapper Tion Wayne.

Accusations of misconduct have cast a shadow over Westwood’s illustrious career in the music industry, as reported by The Sun. Westwood, however, vehemently maintains his innocence.

In light of this, there has been widespread criticism online, with one individual expressing their dismay at the promoters for hosting Westwood in Nigeria amidst the allegations.

Another individual highlighted a previous encounter with Westwood on a flight from Lagos to London in July 2022.

In July, the BBC disclosed that it had received six complaints against Westwood, one of which had been referred to the police, leading to an internal audit being initiated.

A statement from Westwood’s representative in April firmly denied all allegations against him, emphasizing his clean record throughout his 40-year career.

Tim Westwood, the son of the late Bill Westwood, former Anglican bishop of Peterborough, commenced his journey in local radio before joining Capital Radio in London. He later secured his show on BBC Radio 1, ultimately departing from his long stint in 2013.

After the accusations surfaced, Westwood stepped down from his Capital Xtra show, marking a significant turning point in his career.
