The Ban on Sale and Consumption of Beef in Delta Community Following Herdsmen Killings

Following the killing of 10 farmers by suspected herdsmen, a community in Delta State, Uwheru kingdom in Ughelli North local government area has taken the decision to ban the sale and consumption of beef. This decision was revealed by Delta State Commissioner for Education, Professor Patrick Muoboghare, who is also from Uwheru on Saturday, February 22. He stated that it was a simple solution to the herdsmen attack in the community, with the intention of forcing the herdsmen to vacate the Kingdom.

Furthermore, he disclosed that the community leaders made the decision to bury the late victims of the attack and provide education for the children of those killed from primary school to University level. Muoboghare also expressed gratitude for the Governor’s intervention in preventing a potential bloodbath, crediting the timely involvement of the army.

Additionally, Chairman of Agadama community, Sunday Iniovogoma confirmed the ban on the sale and consumption of beef after a meeting with the traditional ruler of Uwheru Kingdom, HRM Odio R’Ode, Agbaivwe III. Iniovogoma warned that anyone found violating the ban would face banishment or be required to pay a specified fine, depending on the severity of the offence.
