The Arrest of Two Sisters for Possession of Indian Hemp in Katsina by NDLEA

NDLEA arrests two sisters with Indian hemp in Katsina

An incident occurred in Katsina where the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, apprehended two sisters and the spouse of one of them for being in possession of six kilograms of Indian hemp.

According to Mohammed Bashir, the narcotics agency’s commander in Katsina State, one of the women, 45-year-old Rabi Musa, was arrested for being in possession of three kilograms of Indian hemp.

Bashir further explained that Rabi was aiding her husband, who is currently at large, in the sale of the illicit drug in collaboration with her sister, Zainab Musa, and her husband.

Zainab and her husband were also apprehended for being in possession of another three kilograms of Indian hemp, according to Bashir.

He stated that Rabi’s arrest led to the apprehension of the two other suspects, ensuring that her husband, who is on the run, will soon be captured.

Bashir assured that the three detained suspects would face prosecution.

The commander attributed the high rate of divorce cases in Katsina State to drug abuse and urged parents to take the drug integrity tests of potential sons-in-law seriously.

He also advocated that parents should demand drug-free certificates from potential sons-in-law before consenting to their daughters’ marriages, rather than being swayed by wealth.

During questioning, Rabi admitted to the crime but stated that she was simply following her husband’s instructions to prove her loyalty as a wife.

She appealed for leniency and advised women and parents to be cautious when considering suitors for their daughters.

Bashir also informed the press that the NDLEA had apprehended four other individuals in a vehicle with expired ammunition, who were later discovered to be car thieves that had robbed a senior police officer of his car at gunpoint.

“A few days ago, three other individuals, who were artisans, were apprehended on the Kano-Katsina Highway with a car suspected to have been stolen in Jos,’’ he added.
