The allegation by the Nigeria Labour Congress on the surrounding meeting venue has been dismissed by the Army

The Nigerian army has refuted the statement made by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) that soldiers are currently surrounding the venue of the ongoing meeting with the government.

In a post on its official X handle on Monday, the Army Headquarters clarified that the allegation was false and misleading. They explained that the presence at the venue was of the escorts of the National Security Advisor (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who was also participating in the meeting.

The Army Headquarters further elaborated that these soldiers are the approved military escorts of the NSA, and upon the conclusion of the meeting, they will escort him from the venue.

“The Army Headquarters has been informed about the misleading news spread by the NLC, claiming that soldiers are currently surrounding the venue of the ongoing meeting between NLC and the SGF,” the statement said.

“It should be noted that the NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, arrived at the meeting venue with his officially approved military escorts. These escorts will accompany the NSA from the venue after the meeting concludes,” it added.

NewsNow mentioned that the NLC had expressed concern that soldiers were stationed around the venue of its meeting with the federal government regarding minimum wage negotiations.
