“The 24-year wait for a child was mine, not my wife’s,” clarifies actor Doyin Hassan regarding the birth of his first child and discusses his previous marriages

Nollywood actor Doyin Hassan has provided insight into the birth of his first child, which occurred after a 24-year duration.

Recently, it was reported that Doyin Hassan and his wife welcomed their first child after a 24-year wait. Sharing images of the family at church for the Thanksgiving and dedication ceremony, he emphasized the faithfulness of God.

He expressed gratitude for the blessing after 24 years of struggle and hardship, stating that his daughter is a remarkable testament to God’s faithfulness.

Clarifying misconceptions, Hassan revealed on his Instagram page that it was he who waited for 24 years, not his wife. He disclosed that he married his third wife in December 2020 following the passing of his first two spouses and clarified that his wife was not infertile, but rather he was the one experiencing the challenges.

Doyin Hassan’s statement on Instagram read, “I waited for 24 years and not my wife Oladunni. My testimony about 24 years of waiting has been misunderstood in certain quarters. The testimony was about me and not the woman I married. I first got married on the 5th of June 1999 and lost 2 precious women to the cold hands of death over time. I married Adeola Doyin-Hassan in June 1999 and lost her 8.5 years after (February 20, 2008, on her birthday). I waited for 2 years before I remarried Bolanle Doyin-Hassan in April 2010. Bolanle passed in December 2020, and I waited 1 year 7 months before I remarried in October 2022. My new wife was not barren for 24 years. I was the one who shared a testimony of my tears and toils for 24 years. Meeting Oladunni was God’s redirection of my divine journey. I hope this is clear enough…God’s blessings.”

Doyin Hassan is not the only celebrity this year who has gone through years of waiting before having a child.

In February, after 7 years of waiting, Adeniyi Johnson and his wife Seyi Edun welcomed twins.

During the dedication of their twins, the couple reflected on their struggles, recalling how they were subjected to derogatory remarks and advised to seek assistance from traditional healers; nevertheless, they held steadfast to their faith in God’s miracles.

In April, Biola Bayo announced the birth of her first child, sharing photos of her son’s feet on Instagram.

She recounted her painful journey to motherhood, revealing an unsuccessful IVF attempt, a canceled surrogate arrangement, and three failed surrogate attempts within two years before finally being blessed with her son.

Biola and her husband gave their son the names Tioluwanimi, Asha, and Iretide, all of which carry significant meanings.
