Taraba ALGON advises Jalingo residents to reconsider planned protest

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Taraba State is calling on the residents to rethink the upcoming protest in light of the positive efforts made by the state governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas.

Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan, the chairman of the state ALGON, issued a statement on Tuesday urging the youths, women, clubs, and associations in Jalingo to distance themselves from the nationwide protest scheduled for August 1, 2024.

Hassan appealed to the people to consider the development projects undertaken by the current governor and to ignore the call for protest.

“I urge a reconsideration of this protest considering the substantial efforts made by our Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for the advancement of Taraba State,” he emphasized.

Highlighting achievements such as the new minimum wage, promotion of free education, resolution of gratuity issues, provision of humanitarian aid, and support for agriculture, Hassan warned that participating in the protest would hinder progress.

“The proposed protest could undermine the ongoing initiatives and portray disunity at a critical time when unity and support are vital.

“I implore the youths, women, clubs, and associations in Jalingo to appreciate and back the positive advancements of Governor Agbu Kefas by refraining from joining the planned protest,” he requested.
