Tambuwal presents himself before Sokoto investigative panel

The former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, made an appearance before the state Judicial Commission of Inquiry on Saturday. The commission is currently investigating certain actions taken by Tambuwal’s administration during his gubernatorial tenure.

Upon assuming office, the current governor, Ahmed Sokoto, established the judicial commission to probe his predecessor’s activities.

Accompanied by former members of his executive team, Tambuwal was unable to provide testimony before the panel as he was requested to return on a later date, which will be communicated to him.

Addressing the situation on his social media platform, Senator Tambuwal, who represents Sokoto South Senatorial District, stated, “Earlier today, I appeared before the Sokoto State Judicial Commission of Inquiry led by Justice Mu’azu Abdulkadir Pindiga, which was established by my successor, H.E, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto.”

“I was accompanied by my legal team and some officials of my administration including the ex-SSG, Muhammad Mainasara Ahmad, ex-Chief of Staff, Muktar Magori, ex-Attorney General, and Commissioner of Justice, Dr. Sulaiman Usman, SAN, among others.”

“Our track record of integrity in public service speaks for us, always.

“In leading the younger generation, we must instil in them utmost respect for the rule of law and constituted authorities.”

“As citizens, we should realise that no one, no matter how highly placed, should be above the laws of the land, most specifically, the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

“This, amongst other things, brings out the beauty in democracy.

“I wish the commission the very best in its sitting.”
