Unexpected Discovery of Four Bodies in Taraba Kidnapping Hideout

An unsettling development occurred in Taraba State as a vigilante group made a grim discovery of four bodies in a kidnappers' hideout nestled in a forest within the state.   The discovered corpses, all male, are believed to be those of some of the passengers who were abducted alongside six others on the Wukari-Jalingo road in January.    According to reports by Daily Trust, a vigilante group conducting a search for the victims stumbled upon the four bodies, which included the remains of the driver, identified as Adamu Wukari. The driver was laid to rest by his family on Wednesday, while the three other bodies remain in the forest.

103 individuals succumb to Lassa fever as it spreads across 16 states

The recent outbreak of Lassa fever in Nigeria has resulted in the deaths of 103 individuals, as disclosed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday, February 19. The outbreak was reported to have commenced on December 30, 2019. The unfortunate victims were inhabitants of Ondo, Edo, Ebonyi, Kano, Kogi, Kaduna, Taraba, Plateau, Bauchi, Enugu, Abia, Benue, Borno, Gombe, Sokoto, and Katsina. A total of 586 cases have been confirmed countrywide, with Edo bearing the highest burden of confirmed cases at 35%, followed by Ondo at 32% and Ebonyi at 6%. The Supreme Court has affirmed the conviction and 12-year prison sentence of former Taraba state governor, Reverend Jolly Nyame, for embezzling N1.6 billion during his tenure from May 1999 to May 2007.   A unanimous judgment was delivered by a panel of five Justices led by Justice May Odili on Friday, February 7th. The judges deemed Nyame's appeal to reverse his conviction and sentencing as lacking merit. Attack by Suspected Armed Militia Results in Beheading of Two Farmers in Taraba State

At a farm in Dapye village in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba state, two farmers were killed and beheaded by suspected armed militia over the weekend.   The assailants, believed to be Tiv militias from Benue State, crossed into the area and carried out the attack on the farmers while they were working on their farm.   Mr. Adigrace Daniel, the chairman of Wukari Local Government Area, confirmed the incident and mentioned that the area had been peaceful before this deadly attack.   The victims were identified as Simon Bala and Timothy Awe, and their killing has raised concerns about the security situation in the area.   Despite the confirmation of the incident by the police spokesman in Taraba state, DSP David Misal, no arrests have been made in connection with the attack.

Vice Chairperson of Nigerian Bar Association in Taraba State, Zainab Kishimi, has regained her freedom.   Kishimi, a senior member of the International Federation of Female Lawyers, was abducted from her residence behind Central Bank in Jalingo, the state capital, around 8:00pm on Friday, according to a close family friend.     The director of Taraba Lawyers media, who confirmed the release, said that she was freed at around 12:00am on Sunday morning.
