Deji Adeyanju urges INEC to disqualify candidates who visit churches and mosques

Deji Adeyanju is calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disqualify candidates who seek support from churches or mosques ahead of the 2023 general elections, citing the prohibition of using religion or tribe for campaign purposes in Nigerian law.   Adeyanju stated, "2023: INEC should disqualify candidates that go to churches or mosques to campaign or solicit for support/votes. Controversy as Apostle Anselm Madubuko Confronts Deji Adeyanju over Peter Obi’s Presidential Ambition

Apostle Anselm Madubuko has vehemently criticized activist Deji Adeyanju for his repeated assertions that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, will finish third in the 2023 presidential election.   Deji Adeyanju had reacted to photos of Peter Obi alongside former President Olusegun Obasanjo during a meeting with some Peoples Democratic Party Governors in London, alleging that the former President is endorsing Obi and is actively seeking international support to fund his campaign.   In response, Apostle Madubuko questioned the basis of Deji's animosity towards Peter Obi. He warned Deji that "Obi will kill him before 2023" and stated that he is also "going down".

On Thursday, August 25, former President Olusegun Obasanjo convened a meeting in London with Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, and a number of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors.     Despite the limited information about the gathering at the time of this report, online photographs revealed the attendance of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state. Also present were Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, and former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke, among others.   Here are additional photos below......

The tweet of former Senator and media mogul Ben Murray Bruce has been deleted after he was challenged by former Vice President of the World Bank, Aruma Oteh, over a claim he made about Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi. Bruce had posted a video on Twitter alleging that Peter Obi endorsed the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, at the Nigerian Bar Association conference they both attended. In response, Oteh criticized Bruce for going against the #CommonSense series which he had initiated and carried on for years, and for not supporting an issue-based campaign. Following the viral spread of Oteh's tweet, Murray Bruce deleted his own tweet.
