Ondo State Police Arrests Residents over Burning Of Popular Church

The Ondo State police command has begun arresting persons suspected to have participated in the burning of Sotitobire Miracle Centre, Akure, on Wednesday. The church headed by Pastor Alfa Babatunde, was set ablaze by an angry mob after news spread that the body of a one-year-old boy declared missing since November 10 during a service had been dug up inside the church. So far, the police has arrested no fewer than 10 persons in connection with the incident. Commissioner of Police in the state, Undie Adie, while confirming the development, said that those arrested have been detained. Reports claim that the daughter of the chairman of Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, has been tragically killed by suspected herdsmen. Mr. Yinka Odumakin, the spokesman for Afenifere, conveyed in a text message to Punch on Friday, July 12, that Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, the daughter of Afenifere chairman, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, was fatally shot by herdsmen.
