Arrest Made in Katsina Forest: Two Suspected Kidnappers Apprehended (See Photos)

At Gwarjo village in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina, a joint security patrol arrested two suspected kidnappers on Thursday.   Abdullahi Rabiu and Isa Rabiu were apprehended in the forest with two Dane guns and some locally made ammunitions.     According to the police command's spokesman, Gambo Isah, the suspects will be transferred to the command headquarters for further investigation.   Isah mentioned that the purpose of the visit to the forest was to demolish a structure used for hiding kidnapped victims. He added that the security personnel are unwavering in their efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities within the state.

Tragic Boko Haram Ambush in Borno Leaves Eight Soldiers Dead and Five Wounded

Tragedy struck in Borno as a military patrol team fell victim to a Boko Haram ambush, resulting in the loss of eight soldiers' lives.   Another five soldiers sustained injuries, while two remain missing as of late Tuesday. The ambush occurred at about 1:00 p.m. on the 156 Task Force Battalion in Mainok, approximately 60 kilometers west of Maiduguri.   Lt Nura Yusuf Maiadua from Katsina State is among the fallen soldiers.     According to a report by Premium Times, a Boko Haram fighter was killed, and an assault rifle was recovered from the attackers. Today, on Sunday, January 19th, aggrieved PDP members in Imo, Ogun and Katsina states staged protests against the Supreme Court's January 14th judgement that nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha as the executive governor of Imo state. The court directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reinstate Hope Uzodinma, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the winner of the election. Uzodinma was initially placed fourth in the results announced by INEC, but the Supreme Court declared him the winner based on the claim that his votes across 388 polling units were annulled. Police kill 2 notorious kidnappers after fierce gun duel, rescue 14-year-old victim in Katsina forest

An intense gun battle in the Katsina forest resulted in the death of two well-known kidnappers and the liberation of a 14-year-old victim by the operatives of the Operation Puff Adder of the Katsina State Police Command. SP Isah Gambo, the spokesperson of the command, confirmed the successful rescue of Lantana Haruna, who had been abducted 18 days prior at Tashar Mai Alewa village, Danmusa LGA. The kidnappers, identified as Gambo Balejo and Ali Dan Maishago, were fatally shot during the confrontation at their hideout in the Jigawar Sawai forest. The joint rescue operation, which also involved repentant bandits, led to the elimination of the notorious criminals. The police are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.

The lecturer at the School of Basic and Remedial Studies, SBRS, Umar Isah, was reportedly killed by armed bandits in an attack in Malufashi local government of Katsina State. The incident occurred when gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded Malumfashi town around 10pm on Monday, January 7, shooting sporadically as residents fled for safety. However, the state Police Public Relation Officer, Gambo Isah, has not confirmed the attack.

Successful Rescue Operation: Six Kidnap Victims Freed by Katsina Police
