Enugu takes measures in response to the first coronavirus cases in the South-East

Following the confirmation of two cases of coronavirus in the state, the Enugu Government has announced the closure of its borders and markets.   According to a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, the order to close all land borders and inter-state transportation will be enforced from 6pm on Tuesday, March 31.   Markets dealing with food items, water, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and other essential items are exempt from the closure. Lassa fever death toll in Nigeria climbs to 176 amidst coronavirus battle

The number of deaths from Lassa fever in Nigeria has reached 176, as the country continues to combat the spread of coronavirus, according to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).   Last week, 15 additional deaths were reported, bringing the total to 176.   28 new cases of the disease, transmitted through contact with rodent-infected items, have been confirmed. Suspected Cable Thief Electrocuted While Vandalizing Transformer in Enugu (Graphic Photos)

A young man met his end from electrocution while attempting to vandalize a transformer in Enugu.   As per a post by Ifeanyi Eze on Facebook, who shared images from the scene, the individual was trying to steal a cable from the transformer and suffered fatal burns in the process. "A young man trying to steal an electronic cable connected to a high tension transformer in one of the local areas in Enugu state burnt to death by the same electronic cable im the process when trying to pull off the cable from the transformer."
