‘Suspended ex-Lagos PDP chairman announces move to APC’

Segun Adewale, former chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared his intention to switch party allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adewale made this announcement during a press briefing held in Lagos over the weekend.

Last week, the PDP in Alimosho Local Government Area of the state took the decision to suspend Adewale indefinitely, citing allegations of causing discord within the PDP and tarnishing the party’s reputation.

Prior to his suspension, Adewale had publicly criticized the PDP, attributing the party’s inability to secure electoral victories in the state since 1999 to internal corruption and a lack of unity among party members.

During the press conference, Adewale stated, “I have no intention of running for office in 2027 but am aligning myself with the ruling party to support the president. My next plan involves going to Abuja to show my respect to Tinubu.”

Responding to his suspension, Adewale accused his opponents within the PDP of engineering his removal, blaming it on his exposure of alleged mismanagement of campaign funds during the 2023 election.

He further asserted that he continued to enjoy the unwavering support of his ward, which had publicly dissociated itself from the purported suspension.
