The residents of a Delta community took justice into their own hands by reportedly beating two suspected armed robbers who attempted to rob a female POS operator. The incident, which occurred in Ughelli, Delta state, resulted in the arrest of the suspects after the female operator bravely held onto one of their trousers despite the threat of being shot. The commotion attracted the attention of local youths who subsequently apprehended and assaulted the suspects. Fortunately, the timely intervention of the police prevented further violence, although a third suspect managed to escape.
The suspects are currently in custody at the Ughelli police area command, and efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect. The situation could have escalated further, but the intervention of the authorities helped to restore order.
