Suspected Boko Haram members kill 9 travelers, allegedly abduct many others in Borno

Nine individuals lost their lives and several others were taken captive following an assault by suspected Boko Haram members on a vehicle traveling along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway in Auno town, Konduga local government area of Borno state, at approximately 9:50 pm on Sunday, February 9th.

According to reports, the alleged sect members set ablaze 17 vehicles and goods worth millions of naira after the attack. A survivor, Ba’na Auno, revealed that the victims were passengers who had stopped over in Auno due to the closure of the entrance into Maiduguri town at 6 pm.

Modu Babagana, a resident of the community, confirmed the incident to DailyTrust, stating that several women were taken captive by the insurgents. Additionally, eight trucks loaded with merchandise were set on fire along with their contents.

 

“They made away with a Hummer bus, a Golf car, and a J5 bus loaded with women. They also ransacked homes and stores before setting them on fire,” Modu explained.

 

The Nigerian Army has not yet issued a statement regarding the recent attack.
