Supreme Court judgement on David Lyon’s sacking as Bayelsa Governorship election winner sparks reactions from Nigerians

Nigerians have flocked to social media in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to nullify the election of Bayelsa State Governor-Elect, David Lyon and his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.

LIB reported that the Supreme Court upheld the federal high court’s ruling that disqualified Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, Lyon’s running mate, for presenting forged credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The panel of justices, led by Mary Odili, directed INEC to withdraw Lyon’s certificate of return and issue it to the candidate with the second highest number of votes, which is the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Duoye Diri.
