Super Falcons maintain 36th rank globally, staying 1st in Africa

The latest global ranking by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association has confirmed that Nigeria’s senior women’s football team, the Super Falcons, have held onto their 36th position.

Retaining their top spot in Africa, the Falcons’ position was upheld according to the rankings released on Friday, August 16, 2024.

Despite their recent unimpressive performance at the Women’s Summer Olympics football event in Paris, France, where the Falcons failed to progress to the quarterfinals after facing three consecutive defeats – a 1-0 loss to Brazil and Spain, and a heavy 3-1 defeat to Japan, placing them at the bottom of Group C.

Ranking behind Nigeria in the African standings are South Africa (50th), Morocco (59th), Zambia (62nd), and Ghana (66th).

As per the latest FIFA ranking, the top 10 women’s football teams globally are:
