“Such an uncommon occurrence to witness men of this generation engage in” Online users commend Jim Iyke over resurfaced footage of him taking responsibility for his unsuccessful marriage

Online users are commending Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke over an old footage of him holding himself accountable for his unsuccessful marriage.

In a previous interview with Chude Jideonwo, Jim Iyke acknowledged that the failure of his marriages was his own fault as he was emotionally detached from his spouses.

The film star disclosed that he had been married twice but they didn’t work out, and mentioned that he has three children.

He attributed the breakdown of his marriages to the passing of his mother, stating that her demise had a significant emotional impact on him and he didn’t know how to cope with grief at the time.

Her death caused a change in his behavior, and he became a dejected husband to his wife.

When asked why his two marriages failed, Jim Iyke expressed, “I experienced a loss. My mom passed away. She was my closest friend and business advisor. …she was incredibly intelligent to the point of being absurd… Our relationship was based on friendship and mutual respect…. She always had the perfect words and advice for me…. I lost all of that when she passed away. There was a spiritual and emotional connection that I lost after her passing…. It took them 72 hours to inform me of her death because we were so close…. I am a product of love, my parents were deeply in love with each other, so her death also shattered my father…. The way they were in their relationship opened my eyes to the type of marriage I desired….”

“Throughout the process of her death and burial, I didn’t grieve… but when my wife became pregnant with our first son, I wasn’t as affectionate as I should have been…. I lost my sense of humor and my confidence, and as a result, she suffered…. After our son was born, I became an overly attached father, pouring all my love and attention onto him and neglecting her instead…. I was a great father but a terrible husband, and eventually she couldn’t recognize the man she married anymore, so we separated but remained friends….” he explained.

“To heal, I had to travel to various countries for weeks, from Gambia to Argentina, Moscow, etc….” Jim Iyke revealed.

The resurfaced video has garnered widespread praise online for his honesty.

One Michael commented, “At least he’s taking responsibility for his mistakes. It’s certainly not a common sight among men in this generation

One Viola Concept commented, “Matured man, he owned up to his mistakes. Some guys are really good fathers but terrible husbands to their wives. The children may be happy but their mother isn’t

One Ms Leemart commented, “He has earned my respect for actually admitting his mistake. Therapy should be embraced more in this part of the world

One Samvail commented, “Marriage requires patience and understanding. I think the phrase ‘for better or worse’ should be eliminated from wedding vows because people don’t truly uphold it. That was when he needed his wife the most, when he opened up to her, but she said she couldn’t stay any longer. Jim Iyke, you are a real man”.
