Successful operations by troops in Borno and Nasarawa lead to recovery of weapons

Over the weekend, the Nigerian Army reported that its forces conducted successful clearance and search operations in Borno and Nasarawa states, resulting in the elimination of terrorists and the retrieval of firearms.

In a statement released on Saturday via its X handle, the Army disclosed that the operations, carried out in collaboration with hybrid forces, took place on April 19 at Kana Village in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State and various locations in Nasarawa State.

During the operation, troops engaged with terrorists near Nguma Village, leading to the neutralization of two terrorists after a fierce gun battle.

Additionally, the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, one motorbike, six bicycles, and various other items abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. The clearance operation is still ongoing in the vicinity.

On the same day, acting on credible intelligence, troops in Nasarawa State conducted a cordon-and-search operation at suspected criminal hideouts around Abuni Village in Awe Local Government Area.

This operation resulted in the seizure of two AK-47 rifles, two AK-47 magazines, and 35 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition.

The recovered weapons were discovered in the residence of an individual named Mr. Abdullahi Musa, leading to the apprehension of additional suspects.

These successful operations showcase the unwavering dedication of the troops to ensuring the safety and security of the population. The public is encouraged to continue supporting the Nigerian Army, along with other security agencies, by providing timely and credible information to aid in ongoing operations.
