Successful Military Operation Rescues Kidnap Victims and Leads to Arrest of Suspects in Taraba

Amid the increasing insecurity, the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade Garrison successfully apprehended two kidnappers in Taraba State.

On an anti-kidnapping patrol, the army also rescued kidnapped victims in the state.

The victims were nabbed at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) area in Jalingo, the state capital, as announced in a release on Monday by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Frank Etim.

The operation, occurring in the early hours of Sunday, November 26, 2023, was initiated based on credible information about terrorist activities in the state.

“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops conducted a raid on the terrorists’ hideout, leading to the capture of Mr. Awwal Bobo, 32, and Mr. Sallau Abdul, 33,” he said.

“The rescued victims, identified as Mrs. Fauziyya Yusuf and Mr. Abdulsallam Abubakar, were safely extricated from the clutches of their captors,” he added.

Two kidnappers were arrested during the operation, while others escaped upon sighting the advancing troops. Efforts are underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing criminals, he stated.

One of the rescued victims has been joyously reunited with his family, while the other is currently receiving necessary medical attention and support to ensure her physical and emotional well-being before being reunited with her family, according to Etim.

Commending the troops for their timely response, Etim urged them not to relent in ensuring the peace and safety of citizens.

He also called on the public to continue cooperating with and supporting security agencies by providing timely information to enhance the troops’ prompt response to security issues.

He urged the people of the state to disseminate this information through their respective mediums to raise awareness about the success of the military operation in Jalingo.
