Successful Capture of Boko Haram Commanders and Logistics Suppliers by Troops

Suspected Boko Haram commanders and terrorist logistic suppliers have been apprehended by troops of the Nigerian Army.

In a recent announcement made on the Department of Army Public Relations platform, the army reported that kidnapped victims were rescued from different locations while looted items were recovered from individuals masquerading as protesters.

According to the statement, on 4 August 2024, in Borno State, two Boko Haram commanders – Bana Yamode and Babagana Usman – were captured at the Damasak Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Mobbar Local Government Area following intelligence on terrorist movements. The duo, who had previously orchestrated attacks on troops in the area, claimed to be visiting their families at the camp.

Furthermore, two suspected Boko Haram logistic suppliers, Mallam Mustapha Ismaila, 49, and Abdulmudalabi Haruna, 30, were apprehended, and two minors were rescued during the operation.

Additionally, 50 Boko Haram suspects and their families surrendered to troops in Bama, Gwoza, and Dikwa local government areas.

In a separate incident in Yobe State on the same day, three Boko Haram collaborators were arrested at Gubio Market in Gubio Local Government Area. The suspects confessed to their involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery in the region, with the seizure of two motorcycles and multiple mobile phones during their arrest.

Elsewhere in Kogi State, a notorious kidnapping kingpin, Mohammed Bello, from Egbe community in Yagba Local Government Area, was apprehended. Bello, a member of a kidnapping syndicate, had been on the wanted criminals’ list of security agencies.

The troops also swiftly responded to a kidnapping incident involving the former Chairman of Kabba Local Government Area, engaging the perpetrators in Egbe Forest. One suspect was captured, and the victim was successfully rescued and reunited with his family.
