Statement from Aide: Government’s Commitment to the Welfare of Lagosians

In a recent development, Dr. Afolabi Tajudeen, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, reiterated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s dedication to addressing the needs of Lagosians in the midst of current economic difficulties.

During the presentation of financial assistance cheques to 100 beneficiaries at the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement in Alausa, Ikeja, Dr. Tajudeen expressed these sentiments.

The agency’s spokesperson, Olatokunbo Dawodu, shared in a statement that the Special Adviser emphasized the administration’s commitment to ensuring that every resident feels supported and valued, irrespective of the challenges they may be facing.

In stressing the importance of each resident in upholding peace and stability in the state, he urged all Lagosians to maintain law and order during the ongoing protests.

The distribution of cheques to beneficiaries is part of the administration’s broader social intervention programs, which had been in planning prior to the protests. Governor Sanwo-Olu’s compassionate gesture aims to alleviate the hardships faced by Lagosians.

Dr. Tajudeen emphasized the collective responsibility in maintaining a safe environment, urging everyone to contribute by abiding by the laws and regulations while carrying out their daily activities.

Additionally, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Ms. Sholabomi Shasore, was in attendance at the event.

In a separate address on Wednesday, Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the youth to reconsider their participation in the ongoing protests against hardship, highlighting the various initiatives his government has rolled out to support residents.

He cautioned against the potential negative impact of violent demonstrations on the state’s progress and development over time.
