Statement by Wike on Remaining in PDP and Battling Challenges

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has expressed his determination to stay with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He emphasized his preference to remain in the PDP and engage in struggles rather than switch to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

During a media session commemorating his one year in office as FCT Minister on Wednesday, Wike made these remarks.

He asserted his commitment to combating injustices within the party and safeguarding the rights of its members.

In his words, “I will stand by the PDP regardless of the escalating conflicts within the party both in Rivers State and at the national level. I will fight until the end. I have no intention of defecting to the APC. This stance is unwavering.”

“The responsibilities I am currently executing here were assigned to me by the president. I am fully dedicated to accomplishing the objectives ahead of me.

“I will not sit idly by while the party I have dedicated years to continues to mistreat its members. I will not tolerate such injustices.”

Wike has faced strong opposition within the PDP from figures like the party’s former presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State.

Despite the opposition, President Bola Tinubu appointed Wike as the FCT Minister.
