Spain emerges victorious over France to claim Olympic men’s football gold

Snatching the gold medal in men’s football at the Olympics, Spain delivered a thrilling 5-3 triumph over the host nation France on Friday.

Displaying their dominance in a captivating final, Spain secured a victory that left the home crowd both disappointed and astounded by the spectacular match.

The game concluded with a 3-3 tie at full time after France managed to equalize with a stoppage-time penalty from Mateta.

However, Spain clinched the gold with two additional goals in extra time.

According to a report from PUNCH Online, Sergio Camello scored twice in extra time to secure a 5-3 victory for Spain over France in the Olympic men’s football final.

The enthralling match taking place at Parc des Princes witnessed France mounting a dramatic comeback to draw level at 3-3 courtesy of a stoppage-time penalty by Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Nevertheless, Camello’s decisive goals in extra time sealed the victory for Spain.

This win marks Spain’s second Olympic gold in men’s football, building on their successful summer that included Euro 2024 and the Under-19 Euros.
